Water beds are just that - beds filled with water! There are two types of water bed, soft sided water bed or hard sided water bed. The more expensive water beds are made to lessen the wave effect which was common in the early models. Water beds are usually heated and a thermostat controls the temperature. Divans are very common and are less expensive than other types of bed. They are made from wooden covered with material and the mattress sits on top. Many divans come with built in drawers which provide plenty of storage space. Sofa beds are sofas which can convert into beds when required. They are great for spare rooms as they can be kept as a sofa and then pulled down into a bed if you have guests.
If you want to know the percentage of each of those general types sold it goes something like this. Queen beds, 50%, king beds 20%, twin beds 25% and bunk beds 5%. These numbers actually vary from country to country but in the US that’s pretty much the breakdown. But it doesn’t end there. Then you’ve got your traditional flat beds, your wall beds, your water beds, your paediatric beds and so on.
The next issue to consider when choosing bedding for your kids bedroom is cleaning. Children often spill things on their bedding, no matter how careful they try to be. Stains can result from kids becoming ill or having an ’accident’. Choosing kids bed sheets that are machine washable and states that clearly on the label will ensure that the inevitable spill or accident will not ruin the bedding your kids love.

I didn’t realize more than when my last bed collapsed on me and I had to go out and get a new one. If you think shopping for a new auto is tough, try shopping for a new bed with all the options you have. So, how many types of beds are there? Well, let’s see. Let’s start with your typical twin bed. A twin bed is basically a small bed for one person. Trust me on this. You don’t want to try to squeeze two people into a twin bed and if you’re really obese you may have trouble fitting into one of these as well.
