They do look kind of fancy. Then you have your drawer bed, which pretty much looks like a dresser drawer. Then you’ve got your slat beds. Those are beds where the footboards actually have slats in them. Oh and of course you can also get these in wide styles. Then of course there are your types of mattresses. You have your feather mattress, your latex foam mattress, your water bed mattress, your tempur-pedic mattresses, your pillow top mattresses, and on and on.
Adjustable beds come in various guises -the pocket spring mattress or the modern foam mattresses. Adjustable beds can be electronically controlled through a controller. The head, neck, shoulders, upper and lower back, hips, thighs, legs and feet can be comfortably positioned on the bed by adjusting the different parts of the bed. This can be done by the simple touch of a button.
Although taken for granted today, beds were very rare and expensive assets in the past. In medieval times, the most common resting place was a pile of hay and perhaps a sheet. From the 13th century until recent history, more luxurious beds were made, but unfortunately, were only available to the noble and wealthy. These beds consisted of a wooden bed frame and a possibly lumpy mattress, which was supported by ropes fastened and tightened to the frame. Hardly affordable, these expensive pieces of furniture were topped with the best pillows, sheets, blankets and quilts, while being surrounded by exquisite canopies or curtains.
Adjustable beds, also known as Semi-Fowler beds, can be adjusted in position to suit the requirements of the user. Those who have medical conditions that require them to sleep in certain positions generally use adjustable beds. They may be also used by those who are temporarily or permanently bed-ridden to make them sleep more comfortably. Sometimes, even those without medical needs can use adjustable beds just to have a comfortable sleep.
