During the 60’s different mattresses and foam with different brands were in the market, in fact water bed is one of the most salable at that time, but not as comfortable as what memory foam has. Well other can sleep well with the water bed but there are some, they don’t like. Water bed needs some frames in order for the water not to keep on moving inside and to protect the bed itself from sharp objects in order not to have leaks.
Unfortunately, choosing a new mattress pad is not an exact science. The best pad for you will likely not be the best for someone else, since a good part of the decision has to do with personal preference. As with mattresses, some people prefer a softer mattress while others prefer something more firm; the same holds true with mattress pads. It’s a good idea to take into consideration the type of mattress you prefer, as this will have some bearing on the pad you choose.
A good tip I learned many years ago is that whenever you go travelling, take a good look at the mattress pad used by the hotel you stayed in. If you like the feeling it gave you, buy that brand the next time you go shopping! Another way to search for a good one is by reading up mattress pad reviews. There are many of those on the Internet, but take note that some of them might be bias because the person who wrote the review could be trying to get you to buy the brand he or she is selling.
An alternative to a mattress pad is a mattress topper. The similarities between the two are that they sit upon the bed, are airy and light. The key difference between the two is that a mattress topper does not have what they call an anchoring system. Mattress pad have anchoring bands, and that is why most people opt for a pad rather than a topper. Price wise they are more or less the same, depending on the brands you pick.
