Seacoast Students of the Week: October 13 - Inspiring High School Achievers (2025)

Celebrating Student Excellence: Seacoast's Weekly Heroes

In the vibrant communities of Dover, Spaulding, York, and Oyster River, high school leaders have identified remarkable students who embody the spirit of leadership and community engagement. These students, through their diverse achievements, inspire us all. But here's where it gets interesting: their stories showcase not just talent, but also a deep commitment to making a positive impact.

Dover High School: Quinn Carberry, a Multifaceted Senior

Quinn Carberry, a senior at Dover High, is a true embodiment of dedication. Her strong work ethic shines through in her academic pursuits, where she excels in honors classes and consistently ranks among the top 25% of her class. But Quinn's talents extend beyond the classroom. She's a four-year veteran of the volleyball team, serving as captain for two years, and also plays for the Summit Six club team. Her athletic prowess continues with track, where she throws shot put and discus. This dual excellence has earned her membership in prestigious societies like the Athletic Leadership Council, National Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. Quinn's commitment to the school community is evident as a teacher's aide and through her involvement in freshman orientation. Balancing all this with a part-time job at Aroma Joe's, Quinn is a true role model for time management and dedication.

Spaulding High School: Laraine Edwards, a Leader with a Heart

Laraine Edwards, a top-ten student at Spaulding High, is a force of nature when it comes to leadership and service. Over four years, she has dedicated herself to numerous school and community initiatives. As a three-year member of the Class Council and current historian, Laraine has left an indelible mark. Her passion for environmental causes is evident as the president of the Environmental Club, where she has organized community clean-up days and thrift swaps, inspiring her peers to take action. Laraine's commitment to connecting and uplifting others is further seen in her involvement with Bridge the Gap, National Honor Society, French Honor Society, and as a founding member of RHO-Kappa, the school's History Honor Society. With her sights set on political science in college, Laraine embodies the drive to create positive change on a global scale. Her dedication makes her an outstanding student and an inspiring leader.

York High School: Katelin Bloomer, a Champion for Equity and Inclusion

Katelin Bloomer, a junior at York High, is a force to be reckoned with. She is not only an exceptional AP scholar but also a dedicated member of the civil rights team and Eco Club. Through these platforms, she promotes equity, inclusion, and environmental stewardship, bringing ideas like school-wide cleanups and social justice campaigns to fruition. Katelin's determination extends to athletics, where she runs for the cross country and track teams. Her AP chemistry and AP environmental science teacher, Sue Graham, describes her as conscientious, curious, and kind, with a strong work ethic and integrity. Katelin's passion for science drives her studies at YHS, as she looks forward to a future career in the field. Congratulations, Katelin, for being an inspiration to us all!

Oyster River High School: Eva Barth-Malone, a Kind and Curious Mind

Eva Barth-Malone, a senior at Oyster River High, is a shining example of kindness and dedication. She consistently brings a positive attitude to the classroom and sets a wonderful example for her peers. Eva's commitment knows no bounds. She is incredibly hardworking and loyal. When Eva makes a promise, you can count on her. Her love for baking and experimentation, creating personalized cookies based on individual preferences, showcases her creativity and attention to detail. Academically, Eva is taking a course at UNH alongside AP chemistry, AP statistics, college composition, and advanced seminar. She has also completed AP precalculus and early college anatomy and physiology. Her language skills are impressive, as she is enrolled in an advanced French course and has participated in a contest, presenting to a panel of French cultural representatives, where they placed fourth in New England. Eva's passion for science is evident as she pursues forensic anthropology, taking forensics this year to learn more about the field. She has been a student leader and original member of the Student Mental Health Team for three years, participating in the Safe Schools conference and presenting to the school board and faculty. Eva's commitment to mental health awareness is admirable. She is also a talented athlete, captaining the JV field hockey team, and a creative, funny, and hardworking individual. Eva's contributions make Oyster River High a better place, and we eagerly anticipate her future accomplishments!
