Whether you’re health-conscious or not, you will find items that are both healthy and delicious on their menu, like their açaí bowls. (There are 5 acai bowls on the menu as well as a BYOB – build your own bowl option.)

Additionally, the downtown Huntsville location has breakfast sandwiches for both vegans and omnivores alike, bagels, a hot chicken and honey biscuit, and granola. If you are there at lunchtime, perhaps a wrap, panini, or some chicken salad would hit the spot.

L’etoile is located at 1214 Meridian Street. It is open from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and from 7:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturdays.

3. 1892 East Restaurant & Tavern

If brunch is more your style, head to1892 Eastfor Sunday brunch. This cozy cafe serves up delicious American-style brunch entrees like omelets, eggs benedict, frittatas, and classic Southern breakfast plates. They can even make most of their brunch dishes vegetarian-friendly – just ask.

Of course, for those who crave something a little heartier, you can order the namesake burger, the 1892 Burger, which is made with house-ground beef, Cheddar cheese, a buttered bun, balsamic aioli, and served with home-fried potatoes.

Aki Ramen is located at 6125 University Drive NW, Suite B18, and is open from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm for lunch Monday through Friday and for dinner from 4:30 until 9:30 pm Monday through Thursday. (They are open for dinner from 4:30 pm until 10:30 pm on Friday.)

Saturday hours are 11:00 am until 10:30 pm and Sunday hours are 11:00 am until 9:30 pm.

5. Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza

If pizza is what you’re craving, Earth and Stone Wood Pizza is the place to go. What started as a mobile pizza oven in 2013 has become a local pizza favorite in two locations in the area.

The original location is located inside Campus 805 at 2600 Clinton Avenue West. The menu featuresSmall Platesoptions (cheesy bread, meatballs, and a wood fired pretzel),Salads(classic Italian, Classic Caesar, The White Hot, Caprese Salad, and a Garden Salad),Sandwiches (The Cuban, The Meatball Sub, and The Italian to name a few),Calzones(The Carnivore, The Meatball, and The Cheese), and their pizzas.

The pizzas at Earth and Stone are available in 10-inch or 14-inch pies and are all wood fired. They have been creatively named, like The Patriarch which comes with red sauce, mozzarella/provolone cheese, pepperoni, bacon and Italian sausage, baby bella mushrooms, red onion, and red bell pepper. There is also the Infamous Tommy G with red sauce, cheese, pepperoni, bacon, Italian sausage, fresh baby spinach, and fresh basil. There is even an option that is vegetarian-friendly – The Green Street (red sauce, cheese, spinach, mushrooms, red bell pepper, red onion, and Kalamata olives).

After enjoying one of their homemade pizza pies, consider trying some of their homemade ice adult ice creams. The flavors change seasonally, so you might be able to sample something new every time.

Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza is open from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm Sunday through Thursday and from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm Friday and Saturday.

6. Four Leaves Asian Restaurant

If you like Asian cuisine, then you will love Four Leaves Restaurant. You can leave your suit and tie at home at this moderately upscale, yet casual restaurant. There you can order classic Chinese dishes as well as bento boxes, Southeaster Asian dishes, rice, noodles, sushi, as well as hibachi entrees.

AtFull Moon BBQ, you can get all the usual suspects like BBQ pork sandwiches, smoked wings, ribs, and brisket plates. Kids love the BBQ pork nachos and the macaroni and cheese. Personally, I like to get The Big Baker (loaded baked potato) and top it with both BBQ sauce and Alabama White Sauce.

The atmosphere pays homage to the state’s two major college football teams: Alabama and Auburn. But no matter who you cheer for, you’ll be sure to find something that you’ll love on the menu.

Full Moon BBQ is located at 1009 Memorial Parkway near Costco. It is open from 10:30 am until 8:30 pm Monday through Friday, Saturday from 10:30 am until 9:30 pm, and Sunday from 11:00 am until 8:30 pm.

8. Ol Heidelberg

If you’re looking for authentic German cuisine, then head over toOl Heidelberg. This cozy establishment serves traditional German food like Schnitzel and Bratwurst along with traditional German side dishes like potato salad, sauerkraut, potato dumplings, and house-made spaetzle. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the selection might have you thinking you are in Germany. (If you prefer to dine outside, there is also an outdoor patio.)

If you are new to German food and not sure what to order, let me recommend their toasted Reuben sandwich with a side of potato salad. It’s a great introduction to the cuisine.

9. Phil Sandovol’s

If you’re in the mood for Mexican food then Phil Sandovol’s is the place to go. The atmosphere is lively and festive and there are a variety of dishes that you can choose from including tacos, burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, tamales, and more. (To be honest, I am not a fan of their nachos, but I am of their shrimp tacos!)

If you enjoy a good margarita or two, let me recommend their Mambo Taxi. It’s a frozen margarita swirled with Yago Sangria wine and it’s absolutely delicious!

Phil Sandovol’s is located at 6125 University Drive, Suite E-18. It is open Monday through Thursday from 10:45 am until 9:00 pm, on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:45 am until 10:00 pm, and on Sundays from 10:45 am until 8:30 pm.

10. Viet Cuisine

One of our favorite places is located in a relatively nondescript building just off University Drive. But don’t let the exterior fool you; inside lies a hidden gem of Vietnamese cuisine aptly named Viet Cuisine.

Viet Cuisine serves boba tea, seafood, pork, beef, and chicken dishes, clay pots, fried rice, and banh mi. They also have a few vegetarian options. My favorites on the menu are the clay pots, while Jeff always orders their lemongrass chicken.

Viet Cuisine is located at 210 Jordan Lane NW and is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 am until 8:30 pm.

For Indian food, there’sThe Curry Modernwhich serves authentic Indian cuisine. They have a lunch buffet for $15.50 and weekend brunch for $16.50. You can order a-la-cart during lunchtime if you wish.

The Curry Modern is located at 607 Andrew Jackson Way NE, about 1/2 mile from the historic Five Points neighborhood. It opens for lunch at 11 am every day for lunch except on Mondays (it’s closed all day Monday) and opens at 5:00 pm for dinner.

For a fun take on crepes, there isOh Crepe!which serves sweet and savory crepes as well as gluten-free crepes at their location atStovehouse. Kids will love watching the crepe batter being poured onto the hot griddle, swirled around, and then magically transformed into a cone of deliciousness.
