- There's a saying among Christians. "God never gives us more than we can handle." Whoever is credited with saying this obviously had an easy life.

James C. Allen - It is a salve without substance, I grew up with this and with what does not kill us makes us stronger. Horse, not necessarily just toss in PTSD as an example and I should know about that too.

- "What does not kill us makes us stronger" is another old idiom I dislike and disagree with. If we survive "it", we were already stronger than the "thing" that tried to kill us.
I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2014, but my shrink said I had been suffering from chronic depression since at least 2004/05. Thanks to decent meds, I'm just coming out of the tunnel. Hell, the light still hurts my eyes.

James C. Allen - I have been treated since shortly after high school. I understand as best as a person with similar issues can.

James C. Allen -
15 lines. I did not see a stanza specification as in the previous contest. If I violated a rule I did not see I will be glad to remove this poem. Thank You.

Purple esprit -
Congratulation on Silver for this great poem, I think both ways of looking at it are like the saying of a full or an empty glass. I can regard it as full whenever there is something in it and therefore the 15 years of that man would also be mine. You marked these views out very impressive, thank you. Blessings and good health, Ursula xxx

Bev smith - even an excellent optimist has pessimistic values, kinda like the glass whether half full or half empty still needs the glass ...
i love these i thought it i wrote it pieces, their honesty is SO refreshing ... like that person with perfect hair / on that windiest wettest day, i don't feel so inhuman, lol ...

James C. Allen - I would like to gripe about something at ap but not in writing. Do you know me well enough to call me. This is only about Kevin being literate. My only friend mentor left there. I have almost no one but my best friend Mel to ask questions of. Att just gave me a new number and I have to find it. This is because I am in an att scam zone. Let me fill you in.

Mlou - He sounds like me, Jim ... I count each survived day a blessing and try to make the most of it!

Quest -
I totally understand the man saying what he said. What's done is done. This is the hand he was dealt. It all could have been worse, as he sees it. He's happy to still be alive 15 years later. The man is blessed! He is an optimist. To have never gotten cancer would have been ideal, yet he feels blessed nonetheless. Good work putting this down for deliberation. Thanks for entering!

James C. Allen - Thank you for Silver, Haile, I like things that happen in real time that point out character flaws of a lifetime. I "needed" a win so to speak. Glad it came from someone I respect his perspective about.
