A bed is a bed is a bed. Um, not so much. There are more types of beds and mattresses than Carter has liver pills. I didn’t realize more than when my last bed collapsed on me and I had to go out and get a new one. If you think shopping for a new auto is tough, try shopping for a new bed with all the options you have. So, how many types of beds are there? Well, let’s see. Let’s start with your typical twin bed. A twin bed is basically a small bed for one person. Trust me on this. You don’t want to try to squeeze two people into a twin bed and if you’re really obese you may have trouble fitting into one of these as well.
Water beds are just that - beds filled with water! There are two types of water bed, soft sided water bed or hard sided water bed. The more expensive water beds are made to lessen the wave effect which was common in the early models. Water beds are usually heated and a thermostat controls the temperature. Divans are very common and are less expensive than other types of bed. They are made from wooden covered with material and the mattress sits on top. Many divans come with built in drawers which provide plenty of storage space. Sofa beds are sofas which can convert into beds when required. They are great for spare rooms as they can be kept as a sofa and then pulled down into a bed if you have guests.
